Marketing and Software Spend Leak Check
The Spend Leak Check is a free 10-question review of how you watch your marketing, agency and software spend. It gives a leak-risk score out of 100 and shows which checks you are missing. It takes about 3 minutes. It is from Los Silva, co-founder of THE LABL, a growth boutique.
Enter all four numbers (use 0 if none) and answer every question to turn the button on.
How the leak-risk score works
You answer 10 yes or no questions. Each "No" or "Not sure" adds its points to your leak-risk score. The points add up to 100 if every answer is open.
| Check | Points | Question |
|---|---|---|
| Spend to revenue | 14 | Can you tie ad spend to revenue using your own numbers? |
| Account ownership | 12 | Do you own and have admin access to every ad and analytics account? |
| Invoice review | 12 | Does someone compare each vendor invoice with what was delivered? |
| Where ads run | 12 | Do you review search terms, placements and audiences each month? |
| Overlap | 10 | Have you checked for two tools or vendors doing the same job in the last 90 days? |
| Unused seats | 10 | Do you review unused seats and licenses each quarter? |
| Renewals | 10 | Do you know each renewal date and cancellation term? |
| Billing adjustments | 8 | Do you look at ad platform billing adjustments and invalid-traffic reports? |
| Spend owner | 6 | Does one named person own spend decisions? |
| Goals | 6 | Does each channel have one written goal number reviewed monthly? |
What your score means
- Under 25, Tight. Most checks are in place. Keep the monthly review going.
- 25 to 49, Some gaps. A few checks are missing. Fix the biggest one first.
- 50 to 74, Likely leaks. Several checks are missing, so some spend is probably not being checked.
- 75 and up, High leak risk. Most checks are missing. Start with who owns the accounts and whether you can tie spend to revenue.
The score measures review habits. It does not measure money lost, and it makes no claim about how much you could recover.
Where the dollar figures on your result come from
Your result adds your ad spend, agency fees and software spend into one monthly total. It then shows how much of that total sits in an area where at least one check is open, and what every 5% of the total is over a year. All of it is arithmetic on the numbers you typed. None of it is a prediction.
Frequently asked questions
What is a spend leak check?
It is a short review of how you check your marketing and software spend. This one asks 10 yes or no questions and shows which checks are missing.
Does the score show how much money I am losing?
No. The score shows how many review habits are missing. It is not an estimate of money lost. The dollar figures on the result are plain arithmetic on the spend you enter.
What counts as a leak?
Money that goes out without a check that it bought something: an invoice nobody compared to the work, a seat nobody uses, two tools doing one job, or ad money going to places that never produce a sale.
What do I get after I enter my email?
The full list of your open gaps, biggest first, each with why it matters, one check to do this week and one question to ask the vendor.
Is my information saved?
The numbers you type stay in your browser until you ask for the full list. Then your answers, name, email and business name are saved so Los Silva and THE LABL can follow up. They are not sold. The privacy note explains how to ask for removal.
